About

Hello!
I'm Amanda.

Piece of merchandise, foodstuffs, beverage, PJs, angry at something - yep, accurate
I run this here blog. And many blogs before this one, to be honest - from Ye Olde Days of Open Diary and LiveJournal, I've been pottering around and putting my thoughts out online since mumble mumble. Tired Mouths aims to be somewhat of a snapshot of my humble existence; a feed of my brain and a hodge podge of who-I-am.

Who Am I?

Well, that's rather existentialist. As it stands, I'm Amanda, a thirtysomething who has recently returned to Australia from (sunny?) Japan (reverse culture shock is a real thing, guys). I'm trying to find my feet again in this big country - mentally, physically and spiritually. I'm a lot of things, but mostly I'm a sum of my parts - like most, I love music, TV and film, theatre, sports, reading and lots of dorky nerdy fun stuff. I buy too many magazines and merchandise, I adore pretty cosmetics (especially from Asia), I'm a dog and cat person, my phone lockscreen is usually ridiculous and I believe t-shirts and pretty skirts go together like caffeine and me in the morning. Nice to meet you! Please don't hesitate to stalk talk to me on Twitter, Instagram or by email.

About Tired Mouths.

I know, I know. It vaguely sounds like a website you'd open in an Incognito Tab in Chrome. But! The name comes from Hawksley Workman's song 'Alone Here':

And I say
That I'm alone here
With the sound of
Conversations neatly placed in tired mouths

Not that I think I'm "alone here" per se; the lyrics just appeal to me and where I am at in this moment of time (and Hawksley is my forever music boyfriend). Thus, Tired Mouths.

You'll hear a lot about a bunch of people who form groups/teams (Kanjani8, Washington Capitals, Die Ärzte, Team Keizoku); people who are singulars (Maruyama 'Life Ruiner' Ryuhei, Toda Erika, Kase Ryo, Nanana, Farin 'Perpetual Life Ruiner' Urlaub, Mike 'Fairly New Life Ruiner' Green, Hawksley Workman); my life (returning home to a large ol' mess of family and friends, returning to the workforce); my loves (makeup, [ice] hockey, movies, j/k/western dramas, Nintendo DS gaming, non-fiction and comics) and everything in between. Like myself, it's a work in progress and a potential force of nature. Like we all are, really.

The header image is Toda Erika and Kase Ryo of SPEC fame. Borrowed from +ACT Magazine. They're the most.

Welcome.

Yours Truly (and friend A.) being interviewed about men's erect nipples. #japan
